BMW reports that Figure 02 supported production of more than 30,000 BMW X3 vehicles during a ten-month Spartanburg pilot in 2025. It moved more than 90,000 components over approximately 1,250 operating hours. The accompanying Leipzig imagery concerns a different programme from Figure 02 in the United States.

The task was specific: moving sheet-metal components into position for welding. That evidence does not establish universal assembly capability. Workpieces, fixtures, machine access and coordination determine whether a similar application will work elsewhere.

Assess one repetitive component-feeding task. Record weight, transfer frequency, model variation and placement tolerance, then compare a humanoid with a fixed arm or mobile manipulator. Use local pilot results rather than BMW’s figures as the basis for an operating forecast.
