Published online in January 2024, it is a research review rather than a catalogue of ready machines.

Solving one of these tasks does not demonstrate end-to-end harvesting. A useful prototype must also handle variation in trees, visibility, terrain and the movement of the cut bunch.

Separate the project into measurable stages. Start by evaluating detection on representative trees, with experienced workers checking the results. Define later cutting and handling trials independently rather than treating a promising perception demo as proof of a complete harvesting system.
