NVIDIA announced Isaac GR00T N1 on 18 March 2025 as an open, customisable humanoid foundation model. The announcement also covered synthetic-data tools and work on the Newton physics engine with Google DeepMind and Disney Research.
Simulation allows teams to test variations without interrupting production. It cannot perfectly reproduce material friction, reflections, changing packaging or mechanical play. Results still need validation with real hardware and workpieces.
Build a digital workcell for one pick-and-place task. Test different object positions, then repeat the experiment with the actual robot and tooling. Agree success criteria before expanding the scope, and check model licensing, compatibility, compute and support requirements.
