ANYbotics documented ANYmal X testing at BASF Ludwigshafen in August 2023. An example mission covered 20 inspection points in around 20 minutes, gathering visual, temperature and acoustic information in an Ex Zone 1 setting.
The operational benefit comes from consistent data: images of gauges from repeatable viewpoints, temperature comparisons and anomalies for technicians to review. Data collection supports maintenance decisions; it does not automatically diagnose every fault.
Start with a defined pump-inspection route. Agree capture points, escalation thresholds, report format and alarm ownership. Verify that the robot variant, payload certification and area classification match the intended location. The BASF example does not establish that every quadruped is suitable for hazardous areas.
